Spring Cleaning

It's the special time of the year (for some of us), when we feel the need to clean, organize and purge.  This week I got rid of something so sacred in our home, I have to do it when the kids are away....The Halloween Candy!!!  We had tons of it because we are very strict about candy and junk food consumption in our house.  It looks so much better and the temptation is gone.

My next area to work on was my crafting area.  I recently allowed myself a little more space in my new area.  Between my paper organizer and my scrap bags, I felt like I was constantly moving stuff around which cut into my craft time.  It's not much, but I feel like I gained a lot of elbow room.
I decided I would also start going through my paper and embellishments and clear out what I have already used enough of, am tired of looking at or is really outdated.  I still have many items I bought when I started scrapbooking back in 2002 (10 Years!)  I am also the person that people know they can give their leftovers too.

This was a long process, but so worth it.  I feel like I can concentrate on what I really like now!  So what am I going to do with all the items I no longer need or want?  Well, I always tell myself that I will use it for cards, but that hasn't happened.  Instead, I am donating it to my husband's class so they can make cards.  He teaches at a very low income school.  The students enjoy making cards for their friends and family, but have little resources beyond construction paper that the school provides.  I hope these supplies bring a little joy to someone's day.

Some other ways I've used/donated my supplies:

  • Created a swap basket at the crops I hold at my home.  Leave something, take something.
  • Donated to my son's preschool
  • When I taught, I would make games such as matching or memory from duplicate sticker sheets
  • A crafting play date for my kids and their friends
  • Know a new cardmaker or scrapbooker?  Let them experiment without spending tons of money on new supplies

What do you do with your leftover supplies?

Happy Spring (Cleaning)!

Part of my problem (ok most of my problem) is I don't part with my leftovers. But that is something I am trying to work on. lol. Part of it is I want to find a group that would love my extra stuff.

I totally understand! Well, the students were super excited about the new supplies I sent in. They asked why there was so much girl stuff. Heehee!
